It consisted of 5 comic takes on classic Horror Genres. We had a remake of Edgar Allen Poe's 'The Raven', there was 'Lovers Lane' - a pastiche of the teen horror genre, there was a 'python-esque' sketch about a mob arriving at the vampires door, a campfire horror story about a Hermit (performed by John Henry Falle, a.k.a the Story Beast), and finally a take on the classic Sci-Fi 'Alien'. It all sounds a bit mental - and it was! Unexpected joy as well as some fantastic reviews really gave the deserved credit to these great writers!
'The performances here are really fantastic as all the cast show their comic timing and wit...'
‘horror with a quirky, comic twist and some poetry thrown in’ ★★★★★
'a cast of six played multiple characters with confidence, finesse and an enthusiastic energy that infected the audience'
THE OLD RED LION THEATRE - LONDON HORROR FESTIVAL
I had the most hilarious and wonderful time rehearsing the 5 star show, 'KNOCK KNOCK' with the UCC Team. Andy and Katie are wonderful writers and directors and created a show with such skill and finesse that actually made my job as an actor super easy (well the hard work was actually fun to do!)
The next acting challenge was - reviving a show and adding a sequel. Always a tough ask, especially when it has 5* reviews already. The expectation is there.
We shook things up, with a sequel in a new format and new cast member... so it'll was fresh and challenging and oh so much fun!
A play with a narrative through-line, but still with the same sketch feel.
We encounter a village that may have called Bloody Mary…
“2 parts vodka, 4 parts tomato juice, 4 dashes of Worcestershire sauce, 4 dashes of Tabasco, a teaspoon of terror and a healthy dollop of dread. A pinch of salt, a pinch of pepper, a pinch on the arm to make sure it’s all just a dream; keep telling yourself it’s all just a dream. Shake, shudder, shiver, screech, shriek, SCREAM!!!
Garnish with celery and serve chilled.”
The cast were a joy to rehearse with, Jerome and Matthew are gloriously funny - I think always succeeding to make me corpse every night - they were committed and dedicated and a pleasure of have had the opportunity to work with.
Check out their Facebook pages to see them in action.
The Underground Clown Club do many other shows - their next show 'Love and Rabbits' is on this month which I am very excited to get down to see, at N16.
